Agreement between Agartala & Dhaka regarding
passenger bus service had been signed on 10th July morning. On 12th
July, Agartala-Dhaka bus service was flagged off in a ceremony at 7 PM by
Minister, Transport, Shri Sukumar Burman. (News dated 12-7-2001)
On 13th of this month, Banamohotsava is being
celebrated in Chandripada H.S School in Dhalai District. Honorable Cooperation

Tripura stands first among the North Eastern States in
achieving the PMRY target and loan repayment. This was revealed by Shri Pabitra
Kar, Minister, Industries & Commerce, Tripura during a Press Conference
recently. He further stated that despite sanctions, financial assistance
extended is not even 25 per cent. (News dated 10-7-2001)
The North Eastern Regional Agriculture Marketing
Corporation Ltd. (NERMAC) has ended the fiscal year 2000-2001 with an all-time
high turnover of Rs. 27.70 crore, which is an increase of around 400 per cent
over that of 1999-2000. The per cent loss too had come down by about 57 per cent
during the same period in comparison to the previous year. (News dated

Annual Plan discussions
were held today, 8th February, 2001, between Shri K.C. Pant, Deputy Chairman, Planning
Commission and Shri Manik Sarkar, chief Minister along with senior officials.
As against a Plan Outlay of Rs.485 crores for the year 2000-01, the State Government had
proposed an outlay of Rs.751 crores for 2001-02. After detailed discussions, Core Plan
Outlay of Rs.560 crores has been approved for the year 2001-02.

"PURBASHA", the marketing arm of Directorate of Handloom, Handicrafts &
Sericulture of Government of Tripura at a function at 13th "Industries & Commerce
Trade Fair" at Agartala on 5th February, 2001.
Tripura is very rich in natural resources especially in cottage and handloom products.
Bamboo and cane based products have of very high quality meeting all sense of aesthetic
sense even from artistic angle. But the product range is not adequately exposed to the
consumer group of national and international arena. Even the capabilities of the local
artisans are remaining confined to the local markets only. Now through this web site, the
product range will get required exposure to domestic & international market.
The web site is providing valuable information on all the products including a photo, the
product description, the rate, size and the purpose for which it is meant. Through this
site, it is envisages tapping B2B & B2C market segments for these high quality
products, which directly & indirectly provide benefits to rural artisans of Tripura.

Cabinet clears
NE transmission cost.
New Delhi, Jan 24 (from "Assam Tribune") : The Cabinet Committee on Economic
Affairs (CCEA) today approved the revised cost estimate for augmenting the transmission
system in South Assam, Mizoram and Tripura, hiking it to Rs.122.13 crore. The transmission
system is meant to augment the power supply in Barak Valley, Mizoram and Tripura by
providing secure power supply in the region. This project will help improve grid
conditions and enhance capacity utilisation in existing transmission system.
