JBIC
COMES FORWARD TO GROOM BAMBOO INDUSTRY IN TRIPURA |
|
The
vast potential of bamboo in Tripura has drawn the attention of
Japanese experts. To explore and implement a project on bamboo a team
of Japan Bank of International Co-operation (JBIC) visited the state
on August 27. During this visit they sanctioned a project worth Rs.
366 crore to be implemented in eight years. Coming forward with
financial and technical support for the development of bamboo industry
in Tripura the team of experts from Oita State of Japan and the
Country Officer of JBIC had discussed the matter at length with the
top officials and bamboo artisans of the state.
During their visit the Japanese team appreciated the bamboo and cane
industry of Tripura. Later on the Principal Chief Conservator of
Forest informed that as a part of the project state’s delegates
would go to Japan in two phases to get the technical know-how so that
they could teach the handicraft artisans in the state. The initial
phase of the project will cover 10,000 artisan families through 16
common facility centres. |

NURSING COLLEGE IN TRIPURA TO OFFER B.SC NURSING |

Close
on the heels of TIT and Agriculture College, is coming up Nursing
College to offer B.Sc. Nursing course in the state. The four year
course will be conducted at the Tripura Medical College and Dr. B.R.
Ambedkar Teaching Hospital run by GENET at Hapania, Agartala. The
college will start functioning from this academic year as the Nursing
Council of India has already given its approval. The college has a
capacity of 60 seats per year out of which 15 seats will be reserved
for the state candidates to be selected through the Joint Entrance
Examination. |
